Powauto |
| | | Power Take Off’s (PTO’s)Power Take Off’s from David Brown Engineering & Hydraulics are available for a comprehensive range of transmissions, with a bias towards Japanese and American trucks. ZF and Volvo European transmission PTO’s are also available. Engagement using air, cable or electric is available for most PTO’s. Output types provided for close-coupled pumps (Powauto standard, DIN, UNI, SAE) or using mechanical drive with flanged and keyed mounts. For more details please visit the Powauto product website on www.dbeh.com.au | | Transmission Mounted PTO
| | Can be located on the side, bottom or rear of the transmission. Some transmissions have the facility of multiple PTO locations. For manual transmissions, the PTO is generally driven from a countershaft (layshaft) gear, but can also be found being driven by the reverse idler gear. For automatic transmissions, the PTO will either be driven before the torque converter and therefore directly by the engine, or after the torque converter and be subject to torque converter slip. | |
|
| Engine Mounted PTO
| | Located usually at the rear of the engine, this type of PTO can be driven from the timing gears, or a special gear train, and provides a constant drive for special applications. Often referred to as a Flywheel PTO. | |
|
| Split Shaft PTO
| | Located between the transmission and the drive axle, this PTO has the capability of disconnecting the drive to the axle when the PTO is in use, preventing the vehicle from moving. | |
|
| Hotshift PTO
| | A unit that has an internal clutch pack used for engaging and disengaging the PTO. Used when repetitive engagements of the PTO are required. Often used with automatic transmissions. | |

| C Series Pump
| | Two Powauto ranges of gear pumps are available from David Brown Engineering and Hydraulics - the CF series, for tipper and general application work, and the K series developed for crane and high pressure applications. The CF range has five sizes from 20 l/m to 58 l/m while the K range has six sizes from 24 l/m to 86 l/m. In addition Powauto has a range of piston pumps, the P series, having five sizes from 17.5 l/m to 74 l/m, all rated at 350 bar continuous. | |

| Valves
| | The valve range from David Brown Engineering and Hydraulics is designed for tipping truck systems, and consists of two single spool valves for controlling the raising and lowering of tipper bodies, and one directional control valve that selects either of two systems. The control systems can be cable, air or electric over air. An air operated two-spool valve is available as an alternative for truck and trailer use. | |
|
| Controls
| | For operating the above equipment, David Brown Engineering and Hydraulics have a range of cable and pneumatic controls incorporating from one to six functions. The pneumatic controls can be as simple as a single unit to control the engagement of a PTO up to a control that will operate two hoists, a PTO, two tailgate locks, and a turntable lock. | |
|
| Underbody Hoists
| | For small tipping applications, David Brown Engineering and Hydraulics has a range of underbody telescopic cylinders designated the UBS series. Ranging from 5 tonne to 20 tonne capacity, these hoists are available in a range of closed heights suitable for most tipping applications. | |
|
| Winches
| | The range of winches available from David Brown Engineering and Hydraulics includes both worm drive and planetary drive types, ranging from 3600 kg line pull to 6500 kg line pull (quoted on bottom layer). These winches are available with features such as fairlead roller systems and rope tensioners. These winches are for pulling applications only and should not be used for hoisting. | |
